- Crichton’s Christmas Crunch
Has there ever been a time that we all need Christmas more than in these days of endless doom and gloom. As reassuring as the childhood memories of your grandmother’s sweet peas in summer or the smell of a roasting chicken on a cold winter’s evening. Christmas reminds us that life does have reasons to celebrate and we should be happy that we are alive.
At The Admirable Crichton we have been planning and preparing for months. Delicious canapés, like tiny edible jewels, have been tried and tested. Our cocktail designers have been “locked” in their snow pristine cellar, concocting heavenly combinations for our clients – drinks to return sparkle and warmth to parties, where friends, customers and families remember that one can laugh and have fun.
Our warehouses are already brimming with glorious new decorations in glittering silver and gold, rich damson and viridian green glass and alpine white, frosted velvet. Lingering in the air is the heady scent of pine, used on our recent Christmas shoot.
As ever we’ve created a new take on Christmas – however, we feel that this year, in particular, the re-assurance of the traditions of Christmas are what people need.
In a crumbling warehouse in Belgium we found antique sledges and old Austrian wooden, red based ski’s and skates. These will be used to build ravishing table centres studded with Christmas greenery, and beautifully wrapped presents; all placed on cloths of inexpensive scarlet felt – scintillating with iridescent glitter and bathed in candlelight, they will be the essence of the Holiday Season, bringing back memories of red cheeked, frosty, country afternoons.
Our endless travelling round the world gives us an opportunity to find all kinds of “goodies” and nowhere is this more obvious than in our 2008 Christmas canapés which include Potted Norfolk shrimp with Mace on a Lavender Bread star. We know that many of our clients are talented chefs who enjoy cooking. However, we also know that their time is precious and with so many commitments, specially at Christmas, they simply don’t have enough hours in the day to shop, prepare and cook canapés when they entertain their friends – Crichton has the perfect solution.
“MAKE YOUR OWN CANAPES”
We do all the hard work for you! All you have to do is put them together.
The ingredients come in a smart clear box, with simple instructions and with a photograph of the finished product. You assemble them, arrange them on your favourite plates and serve. You can even put the boxes in your recycling bin and pass the whole thing off as your own.
At £10 for 12 canapés, both our private and corporate clients can afford to spoil their guest without feeling guilty. A Christmas treat from one of Europe’s finest caterers, given a special “little extra” by you.

- Recent months
During the Autumn, we have again been organising some of the UK’s most glittering parties both private and corporate. Laying amazing dance floors of illuminated maps and lining a Highland tent in faux furs and antlers. We have provided great cabarets and were fortunate to be asked to organise the opening of the incredible Dolder Grand Hotel in Zurich. For this we built lacquer tables inlaid with gold mirror, hung thousands of Vanda orchids and nightlights from the ceiling and created an extraordinary nightclub. The Zurich Philharmonic Orchestra played and the star cabaret was Mary J Blige.
The New Year is full of interesting and fun events for which we will all be recharged after the fun of spending Christmas with our families.
