Summer party trends
Colours are big!
Did you know that each year Pantone creates its colours of the year to inspire designers everywhere? This year they are a dusky rose pink and clear sky blue, referred to as Rose Quartz and Serenity. Versatile and elegant, they work well throughout design schemes for crockery, linens, throws, seating, canapé trays and flowers.
Make a colour scheme the theme
We recommend you ditch the usual summer party themes and go for a huge splash of accent colour or decide on a multitude of colourful hues to create a vibrant visual effect. Why not try your own rose quartz or serenity look?
For instance, if you decide on a multi coloured look such as this one, it can give a tropical feeling, without having to go all out with a less elegant theme.
Perhaps you would prefer tutti-frutti colours that are cool, colourful and fun, yet sophisticated; as seen at this wedding.
What’s big in food this year?
Small bites are big! Our delicious new summer menus are now available but if you want something casual, street food remains on trend this year and is encompassing more cultures and gastro favourites.
Why not use your colour scheme as a basis for selecting food presentation styles? Here are some ideas. For a picnic theme you might choose picnic bicycles or carts serving designer sandwiches and salads with ingredients matching your colour scheme and perhaps you could add a good old fashioned ice-cream van.
Statement plants are BIG
We are renowned for working with amazing florists, but did you know that we have a close relationship with plant specialist Hortus Loci in Hampshire? www.hortusloci.co.uk Foliage and flower walls as well as large architectural plants feature heavily in key designs for this season, so let us create something amazing for you with the help of these horticultural virtuosi who supply thousands of plants to the UK’s top designers at the major flower shows around the country each year.
A BBQ may call for open grills and fire pits with chefs cooking an array of delicious meats, vegetables and fish to order. Add an ice-cream making machine with lots of sauces and toppings. No-one is ever too old for one of these.
A multi coloured, festival style fiesta with outdoor food stalls is always popular and has endless possibilities for colour theming. Have a dedicated area for guests to browse and graze between, serving treats such as lobster burgers and sliders, crispy cod cheeks and chunky chips or hand made pizzas.
Canapé and pudding stalls are very popular in the summer months, adding to the casual feel of the party and can easily be colour styled and can of course can help to keep costs down whilst still creating a mouth watering visual display.
